I want to fly to the moon, with the Saturn V in my game. In order to do that, I gotta land on the moon. I need a LEM. It turns out that drawing a LEM is super hard! Like they say, we do it not because it is easy, but because it is hard. I think it's time to do something very Silicon Valley, pivot. My space game is still going to get done, but I think my adventure either SpriteKit is done. I'm going to give Unity a go. It seems much more mature than SpriteKit, and it will allow me to port to multiple platforms. So we'll see how the Unity adventure goes. Update: After playing with Unity, I'm gonna stick with SpriteKit. Why, you ask? I know Swift and SpriteKit. I don't want to stop in the middle of developing to learn a new engine. So the SpriteKit adventure continues! Moment of insignificant person growth today, I don't hate Facebook hashtags anymore. Oh, and 2D game programming requires a lot of trig that I have forgotten. Ok, that previous post was cynical, and maybe a little bit mean. Even introverted optimists sometimes have to be cynical. Social networks can be very interesting, but sometimes quite annoying. Anyway, work continues on the space exploration game. I'm really liking SKPhysicsJoints! They are so useful, especially if you are making a game that may involve multi stage liquid fueled rockets! 1. Facebook is that person who is really into politics, appears very religious, may be into conspiracy theories, and wants you to think they have the perfect life. 2. Instagram is the hipster who is cooler than you, and might be a good photographer. 3. Twitter is always up on the latest info, pretty honest, and doesn't go on long rants. 4. LinkedIn is the perfect employee, who read all the management books, and has lots of letters after their name. There is truly nothing like the feeling of accomplishment. I am working on a 2D space exploration game, tentatively called Delta V. Making games is freaking hard, but really fun! That moment when you finally solve some kinda crazy, hard problem is like the clouds parting and the sun shining. Accomplishment!
Swift makes it so easy to iterate through arrays!
for index in array { index.property = something } A great programming language should always make your life easier! If you don't have an irreverent streak in you, you won't be successful in life. Deep thoughts! |
